On June 14, the Hanoi regional preliminary round took place at the Vietnam Youth Football Training Center with the participation of about 150 contestants. This is also the final selection point, closing the preliminary round held in Nghe An (June 10), Ho Chi Minh City (June 12) and Hanoi.
At the selection points, candidates are divided into age groups to participate in professional tests. In which, the group of players born in 2011-2012 is assessed to supplement resources for the national youth women's teams in the coming time. The group of candidates born in 2013-2015 is considered a successor force for younger generations.
The test contents include speed, strength, mobility coordination ability, ball handling skills and sparring competition. Through the evaluation process, the selection committee will identify players with development potential to include in the long-term training program.
According to the plan, the contestants who pass the preliminary round will participate in a focused selection from June 19 to 22 at the Vietnam Youth Football Training Center. During this period, the players will continue to undergo in-depth professional checks and physical condition assessment before being considered for selection.
The program is part of the strategy for women's football development of VFF and FIFA, aiming to expand the source of young players, creating a foundation for training and building a successor force for national women's teams in the coming years.
