Fans may miss the match between the women's team and U23 Vietnam at ASIAD

Currently, no television station in Vietnam owns the copyright to ASIAD 20, viewers may not be able to watch the early matches of the women's team and U23 Vietnam.

According to the schedule, the Vietnamese women's team will have their opening match of ASIAD 20 against Taiwan (China) tomorrow (September 14). A day later, it will be U23 Vietnam's turn to start their journey at the tournament with a confrontation with U23 Kuwait.

However, up to now, no unit has announced ownership of the ASIAD 20 copyright in Vietnam. This means that fans are unlikely to be able to watch the first matches of the two teams live through official platforms.

In Southeast Asia, copyright distribution has been completed by some countries. Thailand broadcasts on AIS PLAY, Malaysia has Astro, Singapore uses Mediacorp's system, and Indonesia distributes through TVRI, Vidio and Nex.

Meanwhile, Vietnam, Cambodia, Laos, Myanmar, Brunei and Timor Leste have not yet identified broadcasting units.

According to research, Vietnamese broadcasters are agreeing on a plan for one representative unit to negotiate copyright instead of many parties participating together. However, the negotiation process has not been completed due to business issues.

Currently, domestic broadcasters are continuing to work with distribution partners to find suitable solutions. Copyright may only be finalized at the opening time of ASIAD 20 on September 19.

In case of late copyright purchases, Vietnamese fans may miss the first 4 matches of the football teams. The Vietnamese women's team will meet Taiwan (China) on September 14 and Japan on September 17; U23 Vietnam will face Kuwait on September 15 and the Philippines on September 18.
