On the evening of March 2, tennis player Nguyen Thuy Linh entered the final match of the 2025 German Open Badminton Tournament against world-class opponent Singapore, Yeo Jia Min.
Thuy Linh did not start well, while Yeo Jia Min showed her superiority with dangerous demands. The Vietnamese tennis player has to constantly play in a chasing position. Against a well-playing opponent, Thuy Linh proactively attacked the left corner, forcing Yeo Jia Min to perform defensive situations with her back.
However, the goals of the Vietnamese tennis player have not really made it difficult for the No. 1 seed of the tournament. Set 1 ended with a 21-16 victory for Yeo Jia Min.
Entering set 2, Yeo Jia Min still took the lead but was closely followed by Thuy Linh. The tennis player from Phu Tho actively attacked more, even hit the ball at a fast and strong speed in the second half of set 2.
However, her opponent is still a high-class tennis player. Yeo Jia Min shows off her very flexible skills, from finishing situations to demanding. In addition, Thuy Linh's exhaustion caused her to be inferior to her opponent in the rest of the match.
The better speed helped the Singaporean win 21-16 in set 2, thereby defeating Thuy Linh with a final score of 2-0.
With this result, Thuy Linh finished second for the second consecutive time at the German Open Badminton Tournament. The prize for Vietnamese female tennis players is 9,120 USD (about 230 million VND) along with 5,950 bonus points.
Although there are still many regrets, the results in this tournament will certainly help Nguyen Thuy Linh improve her position on the rankings of the World Badminton Federation.
