Nguyen Thuy Linh will participate in the 2025 National Individual Badminton Championship which will be played in Dong Nai from August 10 to August 16.
Mr. Khoa Trung Kien - Head of the Badminton Department (Vietnam Department of Physical Education and Sports) shared: "We predict that Nguyen Thuy Linh is still in good form, so there is enough opportunity to win a gold medal to defend her number one position".
Tennis player Nguyen Thuy Linh has not participated in any international tournament recently to focus on preparing her physical strength and expertise to compete in the 2025 National Individual Badminton Championship.
She defeated Tran Thi Phuong Thuy (Bac Ninh) to win the gold medal in the women's singles at last year's tournament. Therefore, the goal of Thuy Linh and the Dong Nai badminton team is to successfully defend the championship title.
In addition to Nguyen Thuy Linh, the tournament also attracted many of Vietnam's leading badminton players such as Nguyen Hai Dang, Le Duc Phat, Nguyen Tien Minh, Vu Thi Trang, Tran Thi Phuong Thuy, Nguyen Thi Thu Huyen, Tran Dinh Manh, Nguyen Dinh Hoang, Pham Thi Dieu Ly, Pham Thi Khanh, Nguyen Thien Loc...
The Vietnamese badminton team will consider the achievement of the tournament as one of the criteria for being awarded a place to participate in the 33rd SEA Games. Currently, the Vietnam Badminton Team has not decided on the list of players to register to attend the above Congress.
Mr. Khoa Trung Kien said: "We require athletes of the Vietnam Badminton Team to achieve good performance in the tournament. The national championship is the place with the most fierce competition and there can be a surprise.
The Vietnamese badminton team is expected to participate in all 7 events at the 33rd SEA Games (including men's singles, women's singles, men's doubles, women's doubles, mixed-women's doubles). Athletes with the highest results in this national tournament will have the opportunity to go to Thailand.
This year, the tournament brings together 177 tennis players from 15 units across the country to participate in men's singles, women's singles, men's doubles, women's doubles, and mixed-women doubles. Immediately after the tournament, a member of the Vietnam Badminton Team (including Nguyen Thuy Linh) will leave for France to participate in the 2025 World Championship.
