In the leaked message, TFF Disciplinary Committee Chairman Celal Nuri Demirturk wrote: We will make him pay next season. He has been tolerated too much."
Fenerbahce immediately filed a complaint with the TFF, saying the messages showed thu hence and personal revenge, seriously damaging the fairness and reputation of Turkish football. Club secretary Burak Kizilhan called for a transparent investigation.
Under public pressure, Demirturk and the entire Board of Directors of the Disciplinary Committee resigned. This was the peak of a turbulent season for Mourinho at Fenerbahce, where he has continuously become the center of controversy on and off the pitch.
This message appeared after Mourinho publicly criticized the Turkish referee, especially in Fenerbahce's 0-0 draw with Galatasaray in February 2025. He said the match would be a "disaster" if the Turkish referee ruled it and criticized the opposing player for "jumping like a monkey" to get a card.
These statements have led to Mourinho being accused of race, receiving a four-match ban and a fine of $44,000. He was also banned for one match for accusing the national championship of corruption and implying that Galatasaray was "arranged" to win the championship.
After the National Cup quarter-final, Mourinho was banned from coaching for 3 more matches for sacking coach Galatasaray Okan Buruk.
