According to the New Straits Times, the Football Association of Malaysia (FAM) has finalized a shortlist of candidates who could become the head coach of the country's national football team.
Among these 5 people is the name of coach Park Hang-seo.
FAM is willing to pay the new coach 200,000 ringgit per month, equivalent to 47,000 USD or 1.2 billion VND.
The Malaysian team has been without a head coach since mid-July 2024 when Mr. Kim Pan-gon suddenly resigned for personal reasons, even though his contract had 1.5 years left.
After terminating his contract, Mr. Kim Pan-gon returned to Korea and immediately accepted the offer to lead Ulsan Hyundai club.
Following the departure of Mr. Kim Pan-gon, FAM immediately appointed Mr. Paul Marti Vicente as interim coach.
Coach Park Hang-seo is the most successful coach in the history of Vietnamese football. Under the 1957-born strategist, Vietnam won the runner-up position at the 2018 U23 Asian Cup, reached the semi-finals of the 2018 ASIAD, won the 2018 AFF Cup, and won gold medals at the 30th and 31st SEA Games.
Mr. Park also brought the Vietnamese team into the third qualifying round of the 2022 World Cup in Asia for the first time.
