Today (September 4), the VTV Ferroli Cup 2025 international women's volleyball tournament has entered the penultimate competition day. The qualifying and semi-final matches will take place in four time frames.
The U21 Vietnam team will meet Tu Xuyen (China) in the 5-8 ranking match. One of the players who received high expectations is middle blocker Nguyen Phuong Quynh.
Having received many doubts, even mixed comments when she was called up to the national team early at the beginning of the year, this girl with her unique short hair is having an excellent performance in the recent matches of the Vietnam U21 team at VTV Cup 2025.
In the group stage, although the Vietnam U21 women's volleyball team lost all three matches, the players still left their mark with a spirit of solidarity and competition that did not give up.
In particular, Phuong Quynh is considered the "barrier" of the team with quick judgments, good reflexes, quick blocking, jumping high and following the opponent's blocker.
In the match against defending champion Korabelka (Russia), Phuong Quynh had 5 successful blocking points. Those 5 points, although not many, are still a mark of remarkable maturity for a 20-year-old middle blocker.

Not only has Phuong Quynh's blocking skills been increasingly improved, she also has a strong point in her one-footed shots behind the head. The female middle blocker of U21 Vietnam plays flexibly, coordinating well with the team's setters such as Yen Nhi and Khanh Huyen to compete.
The special thing about Phuong Quynh is not just her expertise. On the field, she is the one who inspires the whole team. Fans will always remember the image of a female player with tomboy style, always smiling on the field and cheering for her teammates.
The next opponent of U21 Vietnam is Tu Xuyen (China). Although not a highly rated team, Sichuan (China) still possesses a generation of players with extensive international competition experience compared to U21 Vietnam. Therefore, coach Nguyen Trong Linh's team needs to be very cautious and take advantage of opportunities.
With their current high form, Nguyen Phuong Quynh is certainly still the optimal attack option on the field. She deserves a position in the main squad of U21 Vietnam. The young girls are ready for the qualifying match against the Fourth Sphere (China), taking place at 2:30 p.m. today (July 4).
