Mastantuono was brought on from the 68th minute in Real's 1-0 win over Osasuna at the Bernabeu on 19 August. Although he has not left a professional mark, the presence of the young Argentine player has led to many legal controversies.
Mr. Miguel Galan - President of the Spanish coaching school (CENAFE) has sent a petition to the Spanish Football Federation (RFEF), requesting clarification of the validity of the registration.
According to Galan, Real registered Mastantuono in the Castilla team (a reserve team playing in the third division), but used him for the first team, violating Article 125 of the Russian Federation Regulations. He said that this was a legal fraud and could be considered an unauthorized use of players.
Not only Real Madrid, Galan emphasized that this phenomenon is appearing in many La Liga clubs. Registering first-team players under the name of young players helps teams avoid registration limits and exceed the salary ceiling according to the Financial Fairness Law. He warned that this creates inequality, as lower-ranked teams face world-class players but are still considered "young players".
In the petition, Galan suggested RFEF get involved early, even before Real's upcoming match against Oviedo. In addition, he proposed two solutions: establishing a separate tournament system for reserve teams following the English football model, and adding a regulation requiring players to play at least 5 matches for the reserve team before being promoted to the first team.
Currently, no club has officially filed a complaint against the case of Mastantuono. However, the pressure from Galan's recommendations is putting RFEF ahead of a difficult choice.
