The Thai Criminal Court has upheld former Prime Minister Thaksin Shinawatra in the case of accusations that he violated the law while in the army. The information was revealed by Mr. Thaksin's lawyer.
The Thai Criminal Court announced its verdict on the morning of August 22 in the case of Mr. Thaksin Shinawatra, who was accused of committing a crime under Article 112 of the Penal Code ( Military Court Law) and the Computer Crime Act.
The case originated from an interview Mr. Thaksin had with the Korean media in May 2015.
Mr. Thaksin went directly to the Criminal Court on the morning of August 22 with his daughter - Ms. Pintongta Shinawatra. Mr. Thaksin's daughter waved her hand to the media before entering the court.
A group of Red shirt supporters gathered outside the court to express their support for former Prime Minister Thaksin.
Before issuing the verdict on August 22, the court held hearings to collect statements from the prosecution from July 1 to 3, 2025 and the defense on July 16, 2025.
The main witnesses include former Principal of Chulalongkorn University of Law Tongthong Chandransu, former Deputy Prime Minister Wissanu Krea-ngam and Mr. Thaksin.
All 4 witness hearings were held secretly. Thaksin attended all sessions directly, with the support of prominent politicians and family members, including former Prime Minister Somchai Wongsawat and leader Pheu Thai, former Minister Sermsak Pongpanit.
