XMLS Thanh Hoa Club had its opening match in the first phase of the 2025 National Volleyball Championship. With a lower-rated squad, the Thanh team suffered a 0-3 defeat to the Information Corps - Dong Bac Command.
However, Thanh Hoa's squad still has players ready to speak up at difficult times in the sets, notably the main striker Hoang Thi Thao.
The 2003-born hitter is 1m78 tall, with a 2m85 jump and a 2m81 blocker jump. Hoang Thi Thao is one of the main attacking factors of the Thanh Hoa women's volleyball team today with her strengths in speed, fast ball play, tact, and ability to rotate the net to attack through the block.
In the match against the Information Corps - Dong Bac Command, the 22-year-old striker played aggressively and actively on both the attack and defense fronts.
This player, along with veteran senior Doan Thi Xuan and foreign player Ceyda Aktas, continuously helped Thanh Hoa chase the score with their opponent in set 2, creating an attractive struggle.
Despite having to play against a strong opponent and being in good form, Hoang Thi Thao and her teammates still maintained their calmness in attack situations. She and the Thanh team only accepted a narrow loss of 24-26 in that set when the Information Corps - Dong Bac Command created a difference in the setter position.
There are still many difficult matches ahead for the Thanh Hoa women's team. After the opening match, in phase 1, coach Bui Huy Son's students will meet VTV Binh Dien Long An, LPB Ninh Binh, Thai Binh, and Ho Chi Minh City in turn. In which, VTV Binh Dien Long An and LPB Ninh Binh are two formidable opponents, considered candidates for the championship.
To realize the goal of achieving good results this season, competitions with strong teams will be key matches that Thanh Hoa must overcome.
In the context of a team of many young and inexperienced players, Hoang Thi Thao is still a talented face, the main scorer alongside Doan Thi Xuan and Ceyda Aktas.
