Exciting sports festival to welcome the Ho Chi Minh City Party Congress for the 2025-2030 term

The sports festival to celebrate the first Ho Chi Minh City Party Congress opened on the morning of October 12, attracting more than 1,000 athletes to participate.

On the morning of October 12, at the Binh Duong Sports Training and Competition Center (HCMC), the opening ceremony of the sports festival to welcome the 1st HCMC Party Congress, term 2025-2030, towards the 14th National Congress of the Party took place.

The event was organized by the Department of Culture and Sports of Ho Chi Minh City in coordination with relevant units, attracting more than 1,000 athletes to participate. Attending were Mr. Nguyen Huu Dat - Head of the representative office of the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism in Ho Chi Minh City; Mr. Hoang Xuan Luong - Vice Chairman of the Vietnam Olympic Committee; Mr. Mai Ba Hung - Head of the Southern Representative Office of the Vietnam Olympic Committee; Mr. Cao Van Chong - Deputy Director of the Department of Culture and Sports of Ho Chi Minh City, Head of the Sports Organizing Committee; and representatives of many departments, branches, unions, sports federations and enterprises in the area.

In his opening speech, Mr. Cao Van Chong emphasized: Sports is not only an activity to exercise and improve physical fitness, but also a healthy spiritual dish, contributing to building a rich cultural community life. In the excited atmosphere of welcoming the City Party Congress, today's sports festival is a practical activity, demonstrating the determination and new spirit of Ho Chi Minh City in the new development stage".

This year's sports festival includes many community sports activities such as running, tug of war, and Sports Festival with more than 450 athletes from 33 units. In addition, the Ho Chi Minh City Open Dinkleball nutrition Pickleball Tournament brings together more than 200 athletes, creating a new and attractive playground for sports enthusiasts.

According to the Organizing Committee, activities within the framework of the sports festival are all organized with socialized resources, showing the active support of businesses and the community in developing the sports movement in Ho Chi Minh City.

In recent years, the Ho Chi Minh City sports movement has continuously developed strongly, achieving many proud achievements. The city is always in the leading group in the country in high-performance sports, with many athletes winning international prizes, notably the chess player Lai Ly Huynh - who just won the 2025 World Chess Championship in China.

The sports festival to celebrate the 1st Ho Chi Minh City Party Congress is not only an opportunity to encourage the spirit of health training in the community but also a vivid demonstration of the vitality and solidarity of the most dynamic city in the country.

The event contributes to spreading the movement "All people exercise following the example of great Uncle Ho", aiming to build a healthy cultural life and affirming the position of Ho Chi Minh City sports in the new era.
