Australian coach Harry Kewell has arrived in Hanoi, starting work with Hanoi FC. In the first sharing session, the 46-year-old coach affirmed that he will focus on coaching and be ready to adapt to the new environment.
I think one of the interesting things about football is that you always have access to many different places and cultures. The same goes for Hanoi, my experience at that time was really wonderful", Kewell recalled his first time coming to Vietnam with Australia at the 2007 Asian Cup.
Returning after nearly two decades, he said he did not have much time to explore the city: The most important thing is still football, that is my whole life. I am really eager to get started work right away".
Kewell has worked in many different environments, from the UK, Turkey to Japan. He appreciated the openness of the Asian players: Their common point is their extraordinary efforts. I want to go to a place where players have a desire to rise up. As far as I know, Vietnam is such a place. When they progress, the team will move up".
The Australian strategist also shared his desire to learn about local culture when conditions were available, but affirmed that the top priority was still work at the Capital team. "I will only focus on football and Hanoi football club," he affirmed.
Sending his condolences to the fans, Kewell said: I am very excited to be here and look forward to the challenges ahead. Hopefully, we will together bring Hanoi football club back to its original position".
