According to Moscow police, the driver, Anarbek Chyngyz, lost control near a shopping mall in Moscow yesterday afternoon. Eight people were injured when Chyngyz's taxi crashed into a crowd on the sidewalk. The witnesses said that among them were fans wearing the Mexico national team flag.
Fortunately, just 200m away, the ambulance arrived at Ilinka Street in a very short time. A report by Moscow police shows that two Japanese fans, two Russian fans and one Ukrainian were hospitalized.
Moscow police also added that the driver, Anarbek Chyngyz, had lost control. However, the cause of the incident is still being clarified.
A witness said that Chyngyz escaped from the car and intended to run away but was taken away by people around him. Chyngyz exclaimed: Its not my fault.
Meanwhile, although the Russian press confirmed that Chyngyz was drunk, those involved said the driver was normal.
In a video posted on social media, everyone saw that Chyngyz had been pursued by many people. Most likely, they thought Chyngyz intended to drive into the crowd and wanted to keep him until the police arrived.
It is unclear whether this is a sign of a terrorist attack by taxi, similar incidents have occurred in Germany and France in recent times. It is worth mentioning that today, the German and Japanese teams will have their opening match in Moscow.
