On the afternoon of January 28, tennis player Nguyen Hai Dang played his first match in the men's singles event at the Thailand Masters International Badminton Tournament 2026.
The tournament belongs to the BWF World Tour Super 300 level of the world. Nguyen Hai Dang is the only representative of Vietnam participating in the competition.
Hai Dang competed with Ting Yen-Chen (Taiwan, China) in his opening match. In the first set, the player from Ho Chi Minh City played somewhat overwhelmingly against his opponent.
Hai Dang maintained his advantage and won some important points. However, Ting Yen-Chen showed better bravery to overcome and win the decisive situation with a score of 23-21.
In the 2nd set, Hai Dang was no longer the dominant player. Instead, the Taiwanese opponent (China) made our player accept to chase points. The set took place with a one-way game and Hai Dang lost with a result of 12-21.
Closing the match, Nguyen Hai Dang dropped the racket with a score of 0-2 and had to stop. Thailand Masters 2025 is Hai Dang's first international competition program in 2026.
In December last year, Hai Dang competed in SEA Games 33 in Thailand but did not win a medal despite being meticulously judged. In the world rankings announced by BWF on January 27, Nguyen Hai Dang dropped 1 place to 73rd position. This player is currently the best-ranked Vietnamese male badminton player at BWF.
