According to the latest announcement of the Organizing Committee of the 2026 Canadian Open International Badminton Tournament, the 2026 US Open International Badminton Tournament, Nguyen Thuy Linh is on the list of players requesting to withdraw.
Previously, Thuy Linh had preliminarily registered to participate in the above 2 tournaments. The competition program in the US is held from June 23 to June 28, and in Canada is from June 30 to July 5. Both tournaments are at the BWF World Tour Super 300 level of world badminton.
Thuy Linh has participated in 3 important tournaments in Malaysia, Singapore and Indonesia recently. She had to focus on preparing physically and striving to compete. However, Thuy Linh did not have good results in the above 3 tournaments.
In the world rankings just announced by the BWF on June 9, Nguyen Thuy Linh still holds the 25th place in the world women's singles.
The player is focusing on accumulating more playing achievements to improve his position in the world rankings.
Although Nguyen Thuy Linh withdrew, Vietnamese badminton still has a representative to participate in the tournaments in Canada and the US, player Nguyen Hai Dang. Hai Dang was registered to participate in the men's singles event here and is also the only Vietnamese player participating in the tournament.
In August this year, Nguyen Thuy Linh will compete in the 2026 World Championships taking place in India. She is the only representative of Vietnam to have a spot to participate in the women's singles event in this tournament.
