The 33rd SEA Games will take place excitingly from December 10 with many sports awarding the first sets of medals. At today's competition day, the Vietnam Sports Delegation has many expectations to achieve the highest results, including winning the first Gold Medal.
Looking back at the 3 most recent SEA Games, the Vietnamese Sports Delegation has been eagerly waiting for the first Gold Medals to see them as the spiritual motivation to win throughout the competition days.
At the 30th SEA Games in 2019 in the Philippines, with the earliest competition schedule, the canoeing team won the first Gold Medal for the Vietnam Sports Delegation from the victory of rower Nguyen Thi Phuong.
At the 31st SEA Games held in 2022 in Vietnam, the manager once hoped that the badminton event would win the first Gold Medal but was unsuccessful. Later, player To Thi Trang (kurash) won the first Gold Medal for the Vietnam Sports Delegation. At the 32nd SEA Games in Cambodia, the women's kata fighters of the Vietnam Karate Team were awarded the first Gold Medal.
On the first day of competition at the 33rd SEA Games in Thailand, the sports with competition include artistic swimming, badminton, badminton, 3x3, billiards & snooker, boxing, canoeing, cricket, water table tennis, football, figure tennis, throw-in, indoor volleyball, jujitsu, football, iron ball, polo, sailing, cloud football, swimming, taekwondo, tennis and wood ball.
According to the analysis of the Vietnam Sports Delegation, Vietnamese athletes in the first competitions in the group of sports including canoeing, swimming, jujitsu, mountain bike, iron bicycle and taekwondo... are predicted to win the first medal results. In particular, the boxing performance of taekwondo is scheduled to compete early, so Vietnamese fighters will have their chances of success. Today, December 10, taekwondo alone will have the final round of 6 male and female individual performances, men's team, women's team, mixed team, men's women's team and mixed women's women's team.
However, the competition schedule depends on the official competition program. Some events will take place in the morning qualifying round followed by the final in the afternoon. Therefore, only when an athlete is allowed to stand on the podium to receive medals will the Organizing Committee recognize the awarded results and update the final table. The coaching staff are also cautious so that each player stays mentally stable to avoid pressure that affects their performance.
