Today (December 10), the 33rd SEA Games officially kicked off. The Vietnamese sports delegation will compete in swimming, boat racing, canoeing, jujitsu, cycling, taekwondo, boxing, MMA, volleyball, iron balls, gymnastics, etc.
According to the assessment of recent achievements and force correlation, there are up to 6 sports in which Vietnamese athletes can win gold medals.
Taekwondo includes 6 events, considered the strength of Vietnam, with the competition of fighters such as Nguyen Trong Phuc, Nguyen Thi Kim Ha (mixed doubles event); Pham Quoc Viet, Nguyen Thien Phung, Nguyen Trong Phuc (men's team); Le Ngoc Han, Le Tran Kim Uyen, Nguyen Thi Kim Ha (women's team) and male and female freestyle mixed teammates (3 women's, 3 men's).
Among the above names, Nguyen Thien Phung is the most expected because he has won 7 world championships and 5 consecutive gold medals at the SEA Games. It is expected that Vietnamese sports will have a gold medal in Taekwondo.
The second competition with the potential to bring a medal to Vietnam is jujitsu with 6 finals, including 4 challenges and 2 doubles events.
Boxer Dao Hong Son - the world champion of the men's 62kg category, who won 2 gold medals at the SEA Games, is hoped to continue to maintain good results. In addition, Vu Thi Anh Thu (women's 63 kg weight class) is also highly appreciated by the coaching staff.
