“Because it is a new subject, it will be convenient for us from the beginning to build basic techniques for practitioners. Many people who already know how to play table tennis, badminton, and tennis find it easy to approach when switching to pickleball. But it is necessary to have basic techniques," pickleball expert Truong Quang Vu once discussed when teaching the 2024 National Pickleball Referee Training Class recently.
Faced with the great demand of people wanting to play and practice pickleball, many classes have been opened. The coaches who teach this subject are mostly people who have original techniques from tennis and then accumulate pickleball techniques and rules to recruit students and open classes.
Realistically, the income of a paid pickleball teacher ranges from 200,000 VND to 250,000 VND/session. Standing classes regularly during the week, a pickleball instructor's income is no less than 20 million VND/month.
However, because the Vietnam Pickleball Federation has not yet been established, official certification for Vietnamese pickleball coaches according to a standard regulation is not yet available. All current instructors are spontaneous, appearing to meet the needs of players, practicing pickleball as well as to earn income for themselves.
At this time, many famous faces in the Vietnamese tennis industry also switched to practicing and playing pickleball, so they were also the ones creating attraction for fans.
For example, expert Truong Quang Vu is also a professional tennis coach and was once the coach of the Vietnam tennis team. Some famous Vietnamese tennis players such as Quoc Khanh, Linh Giang... have become familiar people on the pickleball court at this time.
Regarding regulations, professional standards for pickleball coaches to have qualifications are urgent. But right now, with the huge demand for playing and practicing pickleball in society, players only need the person to teach them to be a teacher who has the right technique, teaches to play the ball accurately and according to the rules to be satisfied, not to worry about other people. What degree or level does it achieve?
