The Vietnam men's volleyball team will participate in the Asian Club Championship - AVC Champions League 2025 from May 11 to May 18. Coming to the continental playground, coach Tran Dinh Tien has prepared the strongest force, ready to compete as well as learn from opponents.
One of the players who received a lot of expectations in the squad of the Vietnam men's volleyball team this time is opposite Pham Van Hiep.
Born in 2000, Pham Van Hiep has soon affirmed his name in the domestic men's volleyball community. From a young player in the Border Guard sports unit, Van Hiep has tried his best to practice and compete, demonstrating the qualities of an attacking setter.

The Hung Yen-born hitter stands out with her strong finishing ability, tactical hitting, high jump range, good blocking, fiery fighting spirit and afraidness in key moments. Not only that, Van Hiep is also a person who always maintains the necessary calmness and commanding spirit on the field.
Therefore, he quickly occupied the trust from the coaching staff of the Border Guard as well as the national team. In the border team shirt, Van Hiep is the model captain. Meanwhile, since the first time he focused on the South Vietnamese volleyball team in 2021, up to now, the 25 -year -old pass has always been named in the team composition and plays an important role.
In the upcoming AVC Champions League 2025, the Vietnamese men's volleyball team is in Group D with opponents Al-Rayyan (Qatar) and Bahrain Club (Bahrain). Against two strong opponents, Van Hiep is one of the expected factors in coach Tran Dinh Tien's squad.
However, this setter needs to overcome a big challenge, which is physical strength. In April, in the semi-final match of the Hung Vuong Cup 2025, a technical incorrect grounding caused Pham Van Hiep to suffer a serious knee injury. With his determination, he convinced coach Tran Dinh Tien to play in the final match of the Border Guard. Less than a month later, Pham Van Hiep's name appeared in the list of teams preparing for the AVC Champions League 2025.
However, Van Hiep personally as well as the coaching staff of the national team must not be subjective. In a tournament that requires high intensity and continuous competition pressure, Van Hiep's efforts and competition can cause his injury to recur.

In 2025, Vietnamese men's volleyball still has many international tasks, including mentioning the 33rd SEA Games taking place in December in Thailand. Therefore, it would be understandable if the national team coaching staff did not take risks with Van Hiep.
But overall, the captain of the Border Guard club is still an important name in the Vietnam men's volleyball team. His physical strength may not have fully recovered, his form may need more time, but what Van Hiep possesses is fighting spirit. In contrast to his calm face, the 25-year-old hitter is always a dike, brave player and does everything in every phase of the ball.
Therefore, fans are eagerly waiting for Van Hiep's recovery to see this setter explode in the upcoming tournament. AVC Champions League 2025 is an opportunity for the captain of Border Guard club to prove his strength, bravery and key role.
