On March 12, a press conference was held in Hanoi for the National Marathon and Long-Distance Championship of Tien Phong Newspaper (Tien Phong Marathon 2025) with the theme "The best part".
The tournament received the support of many units, including the diamond sponsor Saigon Beer - Alcohol - Beverage Corporation (SABECO).
Speaking at the ceremony, Mr. Phung Cong Suong - Editor-in-Chief of Tien Phong Newspaper, co-Head of the tournament organizing committee, said: "Over the years, Tien Phong Marathon has grown out of the framework of a pure sports tournament, becoming a series of meaningful political, economic, social and cultural events, promoting the development of each locality that the tournament passes through.
This year's tournament started on March 28 in Quang Tri with many humane activities: offering incense to commemorate the heroic martyrs at Truong Son Cemetery, Road 9 Cemetery, Quang Tri Ancient Citadel; the flower lantern release ceremony on the Thach Han River; donating gratitude houses in the province. In addition, the highlight will be the National Flag Raising Ceremony on both banks of Hien Luong - Ben Hai.
We believe that with careful preparation, this year's tournament is not only a day for athletes to conquer the top, but also a day for the determination and strength of the Vietnamese people to shine".
At Tien Phong Marathon, more than 7,000 professional and amateur athletes will compete in individual events in distances of 21.1km; 42.195km for men/women in amateur and amateur; 10km for men in amateur, young men, men, women in amateur; 5km for women in amateur, young women and men, women in amateur.
Among them, many Vietnamese national players such as Nguyen Thi Oanh, Nguyen Van Lai, Hoang Nguyen Thanh, Hoang Thi Ngoc Hoa, Nguyen Trung Cuong... also participated in the competition.
To ensure accuracy, the running route of the tournament has been measured by a road user from the Vietnam Athletics Federation using specialized equipment and carefully inspected according to international standards.
At the press conference, Mr. Le Minh Tuan - Director of the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Quang Tri province said: "The People's Committee of Quang Tri province has coordinated with Tien Phong newspaper to actively prepare facilities, ensure security and order, medical care, and arrange vehicles for tourists during the tournament.
The province has also mobilized youth union members to accompany and respond to the race, and built a team of volunteers to support athletes participating in the race".
According to Mr. Nguyen Manh Hung - General Secretary of the Vietnam Athletics Federation, Tien Phong Marathon 2025 is an important tournament to select athletes to participate in the 33rd SEA Games. In addition to the national championship, from now until the Congress, there are still a number of tournaments that meet road standards. On that basis, the Federation will finalize the force participating in the SEA Games. However, the Tien Phong Marathon has mostly gathered the strongest athletes, competing the most fiercely.
