Closing the first official competition day at the 33rd SEA Games, the Vietnam Sports Delegation won 4 gold medals, 4 silver medals and 16 bronze medals, temporarily ranked 4th on the total medal table.
Today (December 11), Vietnamese sports continue to compete with some of their strengths, hoping to bring home many more impressive achievements.
In swimming, the athletes entered the qualifying round at 9am with important events such as 50m rear, 50m men's freestyle, 200m women's freestyle, 100m men's frog and 200m mixed women's.
In the afternoon, athletics took place continuously with speed and medium events, especially the men's and women's 1,500m finals, three-step dances and two 100m runs to decide the medal.
Badminton will compete from 10:30 a.m. with the participation of Vu Thi Trang, Nguyen Thuy Linh, Duc Phat and Hai Dang, before the women's doubles matches in the early afternoon.
In the 3x3 basketball event, the men's team will meet Malaysia at 11:15 a.m., while the women's team will meet Indonesia at 3:30 p.m. 5-a-side tennis, boxing, mountain bicycles, water motorbikes, golf and chess are all entering the new competition day.
On the opposing fronts, judo, karate, jujitsu and taekwondo all have many qualifying and final events, promising to bring home medals.
The afternoon is the most notable time with two key matches: U22 Vietnam vs U22 Malaysia and the Vietnam women's team against Myanmar in the football group stage.
In addition, sports such as boat racing, iron badminton, cloud badminton, gymnastics, throwing, indoor volleyball, teqball and MMA will also compete simultaneously, creating a vibrant day of mobilization for the Vietnamese sports delegation at the 33rd SEA Games.
