The Vietnamese women's volleyball team will have 2 international tournaments playing at home in 2026, including SEA V.League and VTV Cup. This is considered an important preparation stage for coach Nguyen Tuan Kiet and his team towards ASIAD 20 taking place in September in Japan.
According to the newly announced competition plan, the Vietnamese women's volleyball team will host the first leg of SEA V.League 2026 in Ninh Binh from July 31 to August 2. After that, the teams will continue to compete in the second leg in Chiangmai (Thailand) from July 7 to August 9.
This year's SEA V.League continues to maintain 4 familiar regional teams including the Vietnamese women's volleyball team, Thailand, Indonesia and the Philippines.
In the previous season, the Thai women's team won stage 1 and the Vietnamese women's team won stage 2.
Playing at home in the opening stage this year is expected to help Thanh Thuy and her teammates gain more professional advantages, before entering the dense international competition phase in 2026.
After SEA V.League, the Vietnamese women's team is expected to continue to participate in VTV Cup 2026 held in Phu Tho in August. This is an annual international tournament with the participation of many strong teams in the region and Asia.
In the last 2 seasons, the Vietnamese women's volleyball team has reached the final but has not been able to win the championship. The last time the Vietnamese women's team won the VTV Cup was in 2023 in Lao Cai.
According to the plan of the coaching staff, the Vietnamese women's volleyball team will gather again at the end of May, after the VTV9 - Binh Dien Cup 2026 in Tay Ninh closes.
Coach Nguyen Tuan Kiet said that the team is expected to call up about 14 athletes in the early stages of the year to prepare for the AVC Cup 2026 taking place in the Philippines.
After this tournament, the team will continue to improve its force and expertise before entering SEA V.League, VTV Cup and the most important goal is ASIAD 20.
Continuously competing in international tournaments at home helps the Vietnamese women's volleyball team have more opportunities to rub shoulders, and at the same time check their forces before the big goals of 2026.
