On March 9, the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Health said that regarding the suspected banh mi poisoning incident in Vung Tau, there have been initial analysis results of samples sent for testing.
In which, the analysis results of 28/51 samples (54.9%) showed positive results for Salmonella bacteria - a common agent causing digestive tract infections related to food.
Previously, from March 3, in the Vung Tau area, many cases appeared coming to Vung Tau General Hospital (Phuoc Thang ward, Ho Chi Minh City) for treatment, with symptoms of food poisoning. Through screening, these cases all had in common that they had used bread bought at the establishment on Do Chieu street, Vung Tau ward.
The Ho Chi Minh City Department of Health has requested medical examination and treatment facilities to always be ready to receive and treat suspected food poisoning cases promptly according to the industry's instructions. During the review process, as of March 6, a total of 108 cases of treatment for food poisoning symptoms related to this bread establishment were recorded.
In which, Vung Tau General Hospital received and treated 104 cases; 2 cases were treated at Ba Ria General Hospital. Khanh Hoi General Hospital and 115 People's Hospital each treated 1 case. Currently, all 108 cases of suspected bread poisoning in Vung Tau have passed the dangerous stage.
