On the morning of June 9, the Vietnam Tennis Federation (VTF) successfully organized a ceremony to announce and compete in selecting the right places to participate in the Davis Cup Group III international tennis tournament in the Asia/Pacific region in 2025. The matches will take place from June 9 to 15 at the AP Sports Club Tennis Court, Ho Chi Minh City.
VTF organizes a competition to select the third, fourth and fifth spots for the national team to participate in the 2025 Davis Cup International Tennis Tournament Group III to ensure the best transparency, objectivity and professional quality for the Vietnam Davis Cup Team towards the goal of rejuvenating the force and promoting to Group II, while clearly assessing the quality of the athletes at the present time.
In addition to the 2 official positions, the main focus of the national team is Nguyen Van Phuong (Army) and Vu Ha Minh Duc (AP Sports), the round of selection brings together 7 outstanding athletes from 5 localities and strong units across the country including: Dinh Viet Tuan Minh (HCMC), Tran Quoc Cuong (HCMC), Nguyen Minh Phat (AP Sports), Nguyen Dai Khanh (Becamex Binh Duong), Bui Hoang Anh (Hanoi), Pham La Hoang Anh and Truong Thanh Minh (all from Hai Dang Tay Ninh).
7 athletes will compete in a round-robin to ensure fairness and select 2/7 athletes for the 3rd and 4th positions.
Of the remaining 5 athletes, the coaching staff will select 3 people with the best doubles skills to pair with tennis player Nguyen Van Phuong to compete in the round.
After the end of the doubles matches, the coaching staff will base on their professional qualifications to choose the final spot for the doubles position.
Mr. Nguyen Phi Anh Vu, head coach of the Vietnam Davis Cup team, said: Organizing the selection match is a professional and correct step of VTF.
Regularity is the top criterion for this selection round. We expect the new young faces to assert themselves but will not create pressure for them to compete with a comfortable mentality in the best form".
Meanwhile, tennis player Nguyen Dai Khanh shared: I feel very happy and excited about this selection round. Participating in the selection competition is a source of pride for any athlete.
Organizing the selection will ensure fairness for all players. I will be determined to compete to represent the country in the continental tournament.
Vietnam will host the ITF Davis Cup Group III Asian/Ocean region international tennis tournament in 2025. The tournament takes place from July 14-19, 2025 with the competition of 40 professional tennis players from 10 countries including: Jordan, Cambodia, Iran, Singapore, Sri Lanka, Vietnam, Saudi Arabia, Indonesia, Thailand and 1 other country that is still updated.
The tournament will take place at the Hanaka Paris Ocean Park tennis court cluster, Tu Son, Bac Ninh.
