U16 futsal Vietnam won a valuable point against U16 futsal Indonesia in the opening match of the 2025 U16 Southeast Asian Futsal Championship at noon on December 24.

Entering the first match of the tournament, U16 futsal Vietnam faced a fateful opponent U16 futsal Indonesia - the team that just had a 4-2 victory over U16 futsal Myanmar in the opening match. In the first 10 minutes, the game was quite balanced as both teams actively played an open game and created dangerous opportunities towards the opponent's goal.

However, Indonesia was the team that took advantage of the opportunity better. In the 13th minute, from a quick counter-attack, Alan had a favorable pass for Haerul to control and finish delicately at a tight angle, putting Indonesia ahead 1-0.

After conceding the goal, coach Trinh Huu Thanh's students pushed up their formation to find an equalizer. However, the opponent's disciplined counter-attacking defense and impressive speed caused many difficulties for the Reds. In the 26th minute, in a face-off with the goalkeeper, Haerul continued to shine to increase the score to 2-0 for Indonesia.

Despite being at a disadvantage, U16 Vietnam futsal team did not give up. The Vietnamese team continuously increased the pressure on the opponent's field. In the 28th minute, from a methodical corner kick coordination, Ba Manh finished accurately, shortening the score to 1-2, reigniting the home team's hope.

In the final minutes of the match, U16 Vietnam futsal maintained a high-altitude approach. The result came in the 40th minute when Gia Bao stole the ball right in front of the opponent's penalty area and then decidedly finished, scoring a dramatic equalizer 2-2.

Having won a valuable point in the opening match, coach Trinh Huu Thanh and his team will have a short break before entering the second match against Myanmar at 5:30 p.m. on December 25.
