As head coach, Mr. Okiyama Masahiko said that the list of players for the Vietnam U20 women's team continues to call up most of the players who competed in the 2025 Southeast Asian U19 Women's Championship last June.
The three new players in this training list include: Lo Thi Huyen Trang (Ha Nam), Dao Khanh Vy (Hanoi) and Ca Thi Phuong (Thai Nguyen). In this training session, some players are being treated for injuries and are focusing on the U16 tournament and cannot concentrate, so coach Okiyama Masahiko will replace them with other players.
As a member of the Vietnam U19 women's team participating in the 2025 Southeast Asian tournament, the first official tournament since coming to Vietnam to work, Mr. Okiyama Masahiko had a review of the players: "According to the playing style of the team we built in the previous training session, the players have performed very well in all matches of the tournament. In the final, we conceded goals due to small mistakes, but I think we are capable of fighting on par with Thailand and aiming for the championship.
Commenting on the upcoming time with the Vietnam U20 women's team, coach Okiyama Masahiko shared more: "I am used to coaching in Vietnam. The players are cheerful and friendly, so it is easy to communicate with them. In addition, the players are very eager to learn and listen seriously, so I feel easy to work with.
For the upcoming 2026 U20 Asian Women's Qualifiers, we will solve problems arising during the training process, including problems drawn from the 2025 U19 Southeast Asian Women's Championship. We also plan to organize practice matches with many strong teams in the upcoming training trip in Japan and hope to develop the team further, accumulating experience from difficult matches.
According to the plan, the Vietnam U20 women's team will have its first official training session on the afternoon of July 1. Coach Okiyama Masahiko and his team will have 10 days of stationed in Hanoi and will leave for Japan to train from July 11 to July 21.
The matches of Group B of the 2026 U20 Asian Women's qualifiers will take place from August 6 to August 10 at the Vietnam Youth Football Training Center.
