This year, Vietnamese sports fans will have the opportunity to witness many quality international tournaments held at home.

“The fact that we were chosen as the host of the 2026 Southeast Asian Fencing Championships will open up opportunities for athletes in general and fencing athletes in particular to compete with international opponents with expertise right at home.

This is a very good opportunity to accumulate for our athletes," a representative of the fencing department (Vietnam National Sports Administration) shared.

After careful calculation, we were awarded the right to host this year's regional championship by the Southeast Asian Fencing Federation. According to the plan, the competition program is for the events of three-edged sword, snake sword and men's and women's swordsmanship in October in Quang Ninh.

In addition to fencing, many other sports have developed programs to organize international tournaments in Vietnam this year. The 2026 Southeast Asian Karate Championship will take place in Ninh Binh in July, the 2025 Southeast Asian Judo Championship will compete in Bac Ninh in May, and the 2026 Asian U17 and U23 Youth wrestling Championship will be held in Da Nang in May.

Representatives of the Vietnamese wrestling Federation shared: "Organizing international tournaments at home, in addition to enhancing our position, is also an opportunity for friends to see that Vietnam has enough capacity to be the venue for continental-level tournaments.

Two years ago, Vietnamese sports audiences witnessed the 2024 Asian Taekwondo Championship competing in Da Nang with more than 1,000 people from many countries and territories participating.

At that time, the Asian Taekwondo Federation highly appreciated the organization work that the Vietnam Taekwondo Federation and Da Nang locality had done regarding the tournament.

Last year, 2 international tournaments including the 2025 Asian Muay Championship and the 2025 Asian pencak silat Championship were successfully held in Vietnam. Having reviewed the organization of the 2025 Asian Muay Championship (held in Thai Nguyen), representatives of the Vietnam Sports Administration said that when a continental-level tournament is well organized in Vietnam, it means that our position will be prestigious among friends in the continent.

From 2023 to now, the Vietnam Volleyball Federation has always won the right to host international tournaments to serve domestic audiences. Notably, we have successfully organized the AVC Nations League 2025 for women's teams in Dong Anh (Hanoi).

This is the official annual national team level tournament of the Asian Volleyball Federation. Present at the tournament, the President of the Asian Volleyball Federation - Mr. Ramon Suzara once assessed that host Vietnam owns a gymnasium that ensures facilities and the enthusiasm of fans creates effective promotion to the outside.

Also in 2025, for the first time, Vietnam was selected by the Kenyan and Spanish national teams as a place to train and play friendly matches before participating in the 2025 Women's World Volleyball Championship. This shows that Vietnam has built its reputation with international sports federations and associations.

Of course, international sports federations and associations have recognized the important value of Vietnamese sports. Therefore, the Asian Athletics Federation once chose Vietnam as the venue for the Annual Council meeting in November last year in Hanoi. This year, the International Federation of Boxing (IBF) has just decided to hold the Annual Congress in May in Vietnam.
