Each person has their own mission
Immediately after SEA Games 33, the national sports teams reported on the professional plan for 2026 to the leaders of the Vietnam Department of Physical Education and Sports. Currently, many national sports teams have returned to the training cycle according to the tasks set out.
This year, Vietnamese sports is expected to participate in 4 international Games including the 20th Asian Games (ASIAD 20), the 2026 Asian Beach Games, the 2026 Asian Indoor and Martial Arts Games (AIMAG 2026) and the 2026 Summer Youth Olympics (Youth Olympic 2026). Our main focus is ASIAD 20.
From SEA Games 33 in Thailand, Vietnamese sports has had faith in a generation of young athletes competing at the right level, affirming the ability to inherit many seniors. Fans easily remember some faces who left their mark of achievement such as Ta Ngoc Tuong (athletics), Nguyen Thuy Trang (shooting), Tran Van Nguyen Quoc, Nguyen Thuy Hien (swimming), Ho Thi Duy (rowing)... They are completely qualified to participate in ASIAD 20 if they maintain their form.
Head of the Vietnamese Sports Delegation at SEA Games 33 - Mr. Nguyen Hong Minh - once assessed that each young athlete, achieving medal achievements in their respective events, is a professional encouragement, but all have been carefully calculated by the coaching staff when developing training and coaching plans to choose the right competitors.
The professional assessment of athletes is based on performance and achievements. For example, young shooter Nguyen Thuy Trang competed excellently at SEA Games 33. Currently, she continues to practice, focusing on preparing to enter the competition of the 2026 Asian Handgun and Rifle Championships which will take place in India in early February.
Thuy Trang's performance and achievements in India are certainly a professional measure to help the Vietnamese shooting team make more long-term investments in the future to find opportunities to break through. Ta Ngoc Tuong's case is also a professionally valuable expectation of Vietnamese sports. This 20-year-old face is completely qualified to participate in the upcoming 2026 Asian Indoor Athletics Championships when maintaining stable achievements.
Who will win the 2025 Victory Cup?
The 2025 Victory Cup award will be the final professional election to announce the most important title for sports athletes nationwide right before the Binh Thin Lunar New Year. On January 29, this award will hold a ceremony to announce the winners of all categories.
This year, the excellent young athlete category received 10 nominations including: Nguyen Dinh Bac (football), Bui Kim Anh (athletics), Nguyen Thanh Duy (weightlifting), Ho Thi Duy (rowing), Diep Thi Huong (canoeing), Tran Van Nguyen Quoc (swimming), Nguyen Thuy Trang (shooting), Nguyen Quang Thuan (swimming), Ta Ngoc Tuong (athletics) and Tran Hoang Khoi (bowling).
The 10 faces mentioned above are outstanding representatives of the youth of Vietnamese sports at the present time. They had successful SEA Games 33 in Thailand. However, each person affirmed their bravery in all arenas, not only in a specific tournament and enough opportunities for Vietnamese sports to invest keyly and selectively for long-term development.
A year ago, the Victory Cup award honored Nguyen Thi Huong (canoeing) as the best young athlete of 2024. The selection accurately assessed her expertise, because Nguyen Thi Huong performed well in domestic and international tournaments and participated in the 2024 Olympics.
Now, Nguyen Thi Huong is still the main athlete of the Vietnamese canoeing team (she won 4 Gold Medals at SEA Games 33 in canoeing and traditional boat racing). She returned to training with the canoeing team from January 2026 to move towards the goal of conquering medals at ASIAD 20 which will be held in Japan.
