VTV Binh Dien Long An Women's Volleyball Club recently celebrated its 20th anniversary on November 26. After 20 years of formation and development, the Western team is a unit rich in tradition and achievements, and is one of the clubs contributing to the overall professional results of the national championship.
In addition, VTV Binh Dien Long An is considered the pioneer team in Vietnamese volleyball to send players abroad to compete. In the past, this team has sent many talented players abroad, such as middle blocker Nguyen Thi Ngoc Hoa, main blocker Tran Thi Thanh Thuy, libero Nguyen Thi Kim Lien, etc.
These players have also achieved many successes, leaving their professional mark in the tournaments of other countries. Veteran hitter Ngoc Hoa has played abroad for the teams Ayutthaya A.T.C.C and Bangkok Glass (Thailand). During her time playing abroad, Ngoc Hoa helped Bangkok Glass win the national championship and the Asian Club Cup in the 2015 season. She also won the title of "Best Middle Blocker".
While playing for VTV Binh Dien Long An, libero Kim Lien made history in Vietnamese volleyball as the first and only libero to successfully play abroad. She successfully played for Idea Khonkaen Club (Thailand) with a salary at that time rumored to be 3,000 USD/month.
However, the most successful face of VTV Binh Dien Long An in particular and Vietnamese women's volleyball in general when competing abroad is the main striker Tran Thi Thanh Thuy. The 1997-born hitter has played for Bangkok Glass (Thailand), Attack Line (Taiwan, China), Denso Airybees, PFU BlueCats (Japan) and Kuzeyboru (Turkey).
VTV Binh Dien Long An's proactive approach in sending its players to compete abroad has opened a new direction for many domestic football teams to learn from.
At the 20th anniversary of the team, the board of directors of VTV Binh Dien Long An club also signed a cooperation contract with PFU BlueCats club (Japan). This is the team where Tran Thi Thanh Thuy played for a while and left a commendable professional mark.
The relationship between the two sides became closer when coach Thai Quang Lai's team had a short training trip at the PFU BlueCats camp before the second phase of the 2024 national championship. The experience gained from that trip helped Kim Thoa and her teammates play impressively and convincingly win the championship.
The cooperation between VTV Binh Dien Long An and PFU BlueCats will certainly open up many opportunities for training, coaching, and improving professional skills for athletes of the Western team. Some faces predicted to be able to compete in Japan in the near future are Tran Thi Thanh Thuy, Kim Thoa, Tra My...
For a football team to be successful and have many achievements, the training of young players and systematic investment must be maintained stably. Over the past 20 years, VTV Binh Dien Long An has always had the motto of striving to develop every day.
The 2024 National Championship Cup will certainly give the Western team more motivation to compete in the following seasons, promote youth training as well as create conditions for players to go abroad, learn experience to help the home team in particular and Vietnamese volleyball in general.
