On October 9, reporting to Lao Dong Newspaper, Mr. Trong Khanh (at the request of the character whose name has been changed) said that for about 3 months now, he and more than 30 other people in the security and order protection force at the Tan Thuan Dong Ward facility, District 7 have not received their salaries.
Mr. Khanh worked for many years in the civil defense force, then was transferred to work in security and order at the grassroots level from July 1st this year.
“For many months now, our brothers participating in protecting security and order at the grassroots level have not received their work uniforms and salaries. We have asked the accountant at the People's Committee of Tan Thuan Dong Ward, but they have repeatedly made promises. Even when we participate in arresting criminals and patrolling, we are not equipped with rubber batons or support tools,” said Mr. Khanh.
According to Mr. Khanh, in the past few days without salary, he had to borrow money from other places to have money for family expenses: "Because of my passion for the job and my desire to contribute to ensuring security and order in the area, I do not want to quit my job. I hope the agency will soon complete the salary for everyone so that life can stabilize."
On the afternoon of October 10, at a regular press conference on the socio-economic situation of Ho Chi Minh City, Lieutenant Colonel Nguyen Thang Long - Deputy Head of Advice Department - Ho Chi Minh City Police said that he was aware of the above incident.
"We have been coordinating with relevant agencies to advise on how to handle this situation, thereby ensuring full implementation of policies for forces participating in ensuring security and order at the facility in accordance with current regulations," said Lieutenant Colonel Long.
