Despite streets like Cau Giay, Tran Duy Hung, Chua Boc... being flooded with signs, posters, advertisements, and deep discounts of 70-90%, the number of people going in and out of stores can be counted on the fingers.
Black Friday is the biggest shopping day of the year, taking place on the last Friday of November every year (November 29, 2024).
In Vietnam, the Black Friday sale usually starts on Monday and lasts until the end of the week to attract customers. However, this year, according to the reporter, this highly anticipated promotion program has been taking place since November 18, 2024, 1 week earlier than usual.
Items such as clothes, cosmetics, and shoes always attract the attention of many customers, especially at the end of the year with many big events and festivals, but now they are also quiet and deserted. Many stores do not hesitate to launch "floor-breaking" discount programs; discounts of up to 70-90%; unbeatable prices.
In contrast to the enthusiastic mood of brands promoting massive discounts, this year's buyers are no longer too interested in the sale event considered to be unique. Partly because of the impact of economic difficulties, consumers are cautious in spending decisions. On the other hand, at some stores, many "sisters" go in and then go out because of unattractive designs, even inventory.
Sharing with Lao Dong reporter, Ms. Tran Thanh Mai (Ha Dong, Hanoi) said: "Before going to the store, I looked at the designs on social networking platforms and also intentionally targeted a few sets of clothes for myself."
"However, when I went directly to the store, the color of the clothes was somewhat different from the picture, the design was a bit old, not attractive enough for me to spend money to buy it," Ms. Mai shared and sadly left "empty-handed".
Ms. Phuong Oanh (Thanh Xuan, Hanoi) also said that many stores have sales of up to 90% but the products are often old or out of fashion. New or better quality products are only on sale from 15-30%. "There are also good products on sale up to 50% but the quantity is limited, customers are also very quick to hunt for sales so it's not my turn" - Ms. Oanh said.
"Black Friday" is considered a "bargain" opportunity for customers to shop and prepare for important year-end holidays.
However, buyers also need to be alert when deciding to spend money. Customers should not pay too much attention to the percentage displayed on signs and posters but should focus on the product quality, ensuring it is worthy of the listed price.
