The Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee has just approved the plan to organize a competition for the architectural design of Binh Tien bridge and road, connecting the central area with the southern gateway, passing through Districts 6, 8 and Binh Chanh district.
"The architectural plan of Binh Tien bridge and road (from Pham Van Chi street to Nguyen Van Linh street)" will be organized in the form of a wide competition, without limiting the number of participating units.
The goal is to find a design idea that is highly feasible, modern, and unique, creating a highlight for the southern gateway area of Ho Chi Minh City.
Domestic and foreign design consulting organizations and units with deep expertise in architecture, planning, transportation - bridges and roads, and sufficient capacity and practical experience can participate.
After registration, the competency documents of the units will be considered by the professional council to be invited to the design round. The most optimal option will be selected, reported to the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee for approval and announced the official results.
The contest will be held for about 75 days from the date the entrance exam plan is approved by the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee.

The Binh Tien Bridge and Road project was approved by the Ho Chi Minh City People's Council in principle from April 2025, with a total cost of nearly 6,300 billion VND.
Of which, the cost of compensation, support and resettlement accounts for about VND 2,878 billion; construction and equipment costs are over VND 2,264 billion; the rest is consultation, management and contingency costs.
The entire length of Binh Tien Bridge and Road is 3.66km, expected to be built completely on high ground in the form of a overpass, with a road surface width of 30 - 40m, accommodating 4 to 6 lanes.
The route starts from Binh Tien - Pham Van Chi intersection (District 6), crosses Vo Van Kiet Avenue, Tau Hu Canal, Cay Sung Street (District 8), Doi Canal, Ta Quang Buu Street and ends at Nguyen Van Linh Avenue (Binh Chanh District).
In addition to the main route, the project also has branches connecting to many important routes such as Vo Van Kiet, Binh Dong, Hoai Thanh, Ta Quang Buu and Nguyen Van Linh.

Currently, the connection between the center of Ho Chi Minh City (District 1, 5, 6) and the southern areas (District 7, 8, Binh Chanh District, Nha Be) depends on a number of main axes such as Nguyen Huu Tho, Duong Ba Trac, Pham Hung, National Highway 50... However, these routes are often overloaded and congested, especially during rush hour.
Binh Tien Bridge and Road is expected to become a new focal axis, helping to reduce traffic pressure for the South, while enhancing the connectivity between the center and large urban areas such as South Saigon, Hiep Phuoc, as well as Ring Roads 2, 3 and 4 in the future.
According to the plan, the project will start construction in the first quarter of 2026 and be completed by the end of 2027.
