The 13th term People's Council of Quang Ngai province, term 2021-2026, has just held its 36th thematic session - also the last session of the People's Council of Quang Ngai province before merging with Kon Tum province to form the new Quang Ngai province. At this session, delegates reviewed and voted to pass 14 important resolutions in many fields.
Also at the meeting, Ms. Bui Thi Quynh Van took the time to share about service prices in Quang Ngai in the context that on July 1, Kon Tum province will merge into Quang Ngai, bringing thousands of officials from Kon Tum to Quang Ngai to work and live.
Ms. Van shared: I am following and know that public opinion currently believes that service prices in Quang Ngai are very high. For example, a breakfast in Quang Ngai has a very high price, higher than in Da Nang. I also told my brothers that it was not for the merger of provinces that Kon Tum cadres went to Quang Ngai and the people took advantage. Two or three years ago, there were also Party and State leaders who, when working with Quang Ngai, said that service prices in Quang Ngai were higher than in Da Nang.
The Secretary of the Quang Ngai Provincial Party Committee mentioned the story of local service prices and noted that sectors such as Market Management and Industry and Trade need to study the nature of the problem. "Is our service too small so it is competitive?" - Ms. Van raised the issue.
In addition, Ms. Bui Thi Quynh Van also said that in the past, due to the conditions for cadres from Kon Tum to Quang Ngai, the province has initially supported Kon Tum cadres to rent houses, and also prepared official housing. Kon Tum officials are also very proactive in renting houses.
Some officials shared that if we proactively rented a house early, the price would be cheaper. There were prices that should have been only 2 to 3 million VND, but now they have increased to 5 to 6 million VND. There is an article on social media sharing that I hope the people of Quang Ngai sympathize and share with Kon Tum officials. I really hope that management agencies will pay attention to this issue" - Secretary of the Quang Ngai Provincial Party Committee expressed.
After the merger of Quang Ngai - Kon Tum, the new Quang Ngai province has an area of over 14,800 km2 (the 5th largest in the country), a population of nearly 2.2 million people, with 96 commune-level and provincial-level administrative units located in Quang Ngai city.
According to statistics from the functional sector, after the merger, about 1,000 cadres from Kon Tum will return to Quang Ngai City to work.
