Update on gasoline and oil prices on August 19th: World oil prices on today's trading day simultaneously increased.

At 5:10 PM on August 19, 2026, world gasoline and oil prices simultaneously increased. Accordingly, WTI oil price was at 84.93 USD/barrel, up 0.87 USD/barrel, equivalent to an increase of 1.03%. Brent oil was at 91.90 USD/barrel, up 0.88 USD/barrel, equivalent to an increase of 0.97%.

World oil prices continued to rise in the trading session on August 19 as the market worried about the possibility of oil exports through the Strait of Hormuz. The market is entering a state of "price increase due to supply uncertainty", instead of just reacting to military developments. However, in the short term, Hormuz remains a decisive variable. Conflicting information about whether the strait opens or closes, along with major shipping lines avoiding this area, shows that risks are still present.

According to the Ministry of Industry and Trade, the world gasoline and oil market in this operating period is affected by key factors such as: Information related to negotiations on controlling and reopening the Strait of Hormuz; Iran and the US demand mutual compensation; Houthi forces attack oil refinery in Saudi Arabia; OPEC and IEA lower oil demand growth forecast for 2026; Military conflict between Russia and Ukraine continues, focusing heavily on energy facilities, oil refineries...

The above factors have caused world finished gasoline and oil prices in recent days to increase and decrease depending on the item.
