At the end of last week's trading session, world oil prices simultaneously fell sharply. In which, WTI oil price was at 87.36 USD/barrel, down 1.54% USD/barrel, equivalent to a decrease of 1.73%. Brent oil was at 92.05 USD/barrel, down 1.66 USD/barrel, equivalent to a decrease of 1.77%.
In May, Brent oil fell 19.26%. This decrease marked the strongest month of Brent oil decline since March 2020, when the COVID-19 pandemic caused many economies around the world to close. Meanwhile, WTI oil also fell by 16.86% in May, recording the strongest month of decline since April 2025.
Previously, on May 29, oil prices also continued to decline after President Donald Trump said he would meet to make a final decision regarding an agreement with Iran. However, Mr. Trump also made a series of requests that Tehran had previously rejected.
The selling prices of popular consumer gasoline and oil items on the market in the operating session on May 31 are as follows:
- E5RON92 gasoline: not higher than 23, 258 VND/liter, lower than RON95-III gasoline by 896 VND/liter;
- Gasoline RON95-III: not higher than 24,154 VND/liter;
- Diesel oil 0.05S: not higher than 27,651 VND/liter;
- 180CST 3.5S mazut oil: not higher than 20,442 VND/kg.
Gasoline and oil selling prices of neighboring countries of Vietnam on May 28, 2026:
- Regarding gasoline prices: Thailand: 35,464 VND/liter (Government subsidies); Cambodia: 34,344 VND/liter (Government subsidies); Laos: 39,360 VND/liter; China: 35,667 VND/liter (Government price control); Vietnam: 24,154 VND/liter.
- Regarding oil prices: Thailand: 32,983 VND/liter (Government subsidies); Cambodia: 34,671 VND/liter; Laos: 40,104 VND/liter; China: 32,573 VND/liter (Government price control); Vietnam: 27,651 VND/liter.
Vietnam's gasoline and oil prices are currently lower than those of countries sharing a common border.
