Update on gasoline and oil prices on May 28: WTI and Brent oil reverse to increase

At 6:15 PM on May 28, WTI oil price was at 91.16 USD/barrel, up 2.48% USD/barrel, equivalent to an increase of 2.8%. Brent oil was at 94.88 USD/barrel, up 2.63 USD/barrel, equivalent to an increase of 2.85%.

Oil prices rose more than 2% on Thursday after the Iranian Revolutionary Guard Corps announced it had targeted a US airbase in response to a previous US attack in the port city of Bandar Abbas.

The world gasoline and oil market in this operating period is affected by key factors such as: new developments in negotiations between the US and Iran; the US continues to attack while negotiating with Iran, Iran warns it will respond; maritime traffic through the Strait of Hormuz gradually recovers; inflation in the US increases due to strong energy price fluctuations; the International Energy Agency (IEA) informs that commercial oil reserves are decreasing rapidly; military conflict between Russia and Ukraine continues...

The above factors have caused world finished gasoline and oil prices in recent days to increase and decrease depending on each item, but the downward trend is main.

The average world finished petroleum product price between the price adjustment period on May 21, 2026 and the operating period on May 28, 2026 is: 126.218 USD/barrel of RON92 gasoline used to blend E5RON92 gasoline (down 10.214 USD/barrel, equivalent to a decrease of 7.49%); 126.928 USD/barrel of RON95 gasoline (down 12.844 USD/barrel, equivalent to a decrease of 9.19%); 146.698 USD/barrel of 0.05S diesel oil (down 8.608 USD/barrel, equivalent to a decrease of 5.54%); 655.208 USD/ton of 180CST 3.5S mazut oil (down 66.098 USD/ton, equivalent to a decrease of 9.16%).

The selling prices of popular consumer gasoline and oil items on the market in the operating session on May 28 are as follows:

- E5RON92 gasoline: not higher than 23,258 VND/liter (down 1,082 VND/liter compared to the current maximum selling price), lower than RON95-III gasoline by 896 VND/liter;

- RON95-III gasoline: not higher than 24,154 VND/liter (down 1,395 VND/liter compared to the current maximum selling price);

- Diesel oil 0.05S: not higher than 27,651 VND/liter (down 1,110 VND/liter compared to the current maximum selling price);

- Mazut oil 180CST 3.5S: not higher than 20,442 VND/kg (down 1,041 VND/kg compared to the current maximum selling price).
