Domestic coffee prices
On November 1, coffee prices in key Central Highlands regions fell sharply, bringing the average price of the whole region down to 116,800 VND/kg. This decrease has erased the gains of previous days.
Specifically, in Dak Nong (old), the price decreased by 1,200 VND/kg, to 117,000 VND/kg. Dak Lak decreased by VND 1,200/kg, down to VND 116,800/kg. Gia Lai decreased by VND 1,200/kg, to VND 116,000/kg and Lam Dong decreased by VND 1,300/kg, to VND 115,500/kg.
World coffee prices
World coffee prices ended the week and month with differentiation.
Robusta ( London) was the focus of the decline, losing 98 USD/ton (equivalent to -2.17%), closing at 4,524 USD/ton. Longer terms also decreased similarly.
In contrast, Arabica (New York) was almost flat, up slightly by 0.05 US cents/lb, closing at 392.05 US cents/lb.
The sharp decline in Robusta is the main reason for the decline in domestic prices.
Assessment and forecast
After many days of continuous price increases, investment funds have simultaneously sold to make a profit before entering the new month, creating great pressure on Robusta.
Meanwhile, Arabica prices remained stable thanks to long-term support factors (such as very low inventories and La Nina weather risks in Brazil). News about the US-Brazil tariff negotiations that have not yet had clear results has also caused the Arabica market to stagnate.
Forecast: The market enters the new week (early November) with a cautious mentality. The sharp decline at the end of this month shows that the market is still very sensitive. Coffee prices may continue to fluctuate, influenced by actual rainfall in Brazil and Vietnam's new crop harvest schedule.
