Domestic coffee prices drop sharply
Today (6.17), domestic coffee prices fell sharply after many fluctuations. In the Central Highlands, coffee prices range from 110,000 - 110,600 VND/kg, down from 1,400 - 1,600 VND/kg compared to June 16. Specifically:
Dak Lak and Gia Lai are both at 110,600 and 110,400 VND/kg, down 1,400 VND.
Dak Nong traded at VND 110,500/kg, down VND 1,500.
Lam Dong is the lowest in the region at 110,000 VND/kg, down 1,600 VND.
Compared to the beginning of 2025, when domestic coffee prices were around 130,000 VND/kg, the current price has decreased by nearly 20,000 VND/kg. However, compared to the same period in 2024 (June 17, 2024), the price is still about 5,000 - 6,000 VND/kg higher.
World coffee prices continue to fall sharply
In the international market, derivative coffee prices continued to plummet in the trading session last night due to profit-taking pressure and favorable weather information in Brazil.
On the London Stock Exchange:
Robusta's July 2025 term decreased by 77 USD/ton, to 4,361 USD/ton.
Other terms all decreased from 87 - 95 USD/ton, currently trading around 4,025 - 4,192 USD/ton.
On the New York Stock Exchange:
Arabica futures for July 2025 lost 5.75 cents/lb to 343.95 cents/lb.
The remaining terms also fell by 5.40 - 5.75 cents/lb, fluctuating around 325 - 340 cents/lb.
Compared to the beginning of 2025, Robusta prices have decreased by about 590 USD/ton (from the 4,950 USD/ton zone), Arabica has decreased by more than 35 cents/lb (compared to the peak of 380.00 cents/lb). However, both are still higher than the same period in 2024 when Robusta was around 4,000 USD/ton and Arabica was around 320.00 cents/lb.
Market analysis
The sharp decline in domestic coffee prices today is a clear reaction to the decline in world prices. Profit-taking pressure from speculators and positive signals from the Brazilian crop are causing the market to adjust strongly.
Many exporting enterprises have temporarily stopped buying, while growers have switched to holding goods waiting for prices to recover. The market is expected to have many fluctuations this week if inventories continue to increase and the USD remains strong.
