Domestic coffee prices drop sharply
The domestic coffee market this morning recorded the sharpest decrease in nearly a week. Coffee prices in the Central Highlands region have decreased by VND3,000/kg, bringing the general level down to about VND112,000 - VND112,800/kg.
In Dak Lak and Gia Lai, coffee is traded at 112,500 VND/kg. Dak Nong reached VND 112,800/kg, maintaining the highest price in the region. Lam Dong is lower, at 112,000 VND/kg - also the lowest level in the Central Highlands provinces today.
Compared to yesterday (6.10), coffee prices have lost all their increase, falling back to more than 2,000 - 3,000 VND/kg. Compared to the beginning of the week, the decrease was up to nearly 6,000 VND/kg. Compared to the beginning of 2025, the price has decreased by more than 18,000 VND/kg. However, it is still about 6,500 - 7,000 VND/kg higher than the same period last year.
World coffee prices sink into red
In the world market, coffee prices fell sharply in the trading session last night, due to strong selling pressure from speculative funds and pressure from information about the Brazilian crop.
On the London Stock Exchange:
Robusta's July 2025 term decreased by 113 USD/ton, to 4,409 USD/ton.
Longer terms fell from 131 - 134 USD/ton, trading around 4,200 - 4,317 USD/ton.
On the New York Stock Exchange:
Arabica futures for July 2025 decreased by 6.50 cents/lb to 355.05 cents/lb.
Other terms also fell sharply from 5.45 - 6.35 cents/lb.
Compared to the beginning of the week, Robusta lost more than 110 USD/ton, Arabica lost nearly 10 cents/lb. Since the beginning of the year, both types of coffee have been trading below the peak in January, but are still much higher than the same period last year.
Market analysis
Coffee prices today fell sharply both domestically and internationally, ending a brief increase on June 10. The market is under pressure as it is forecast that Brazilian output may improve and the USD will strengthen, causing investment costs to increase and export sales to increase.
If world prices continue to weaken, the domestic price level may be adjusted further in the coming days.
