Domestic coffee prices fell to nearly VND92,000/kg
Recorded on the afternoon of July 18, coffee prices in the provinces continued to decrease slightly compared to yesterday. In Dak Lak and Gia Lai, coffee prices are purchased at VND92,000/kg. The price in Lam Dong is 91,800 VND/kg, down 200 - 300 VND/kg compared to the previous session. Thus, in just the last three days, domestic coffee prices have lost a total of VND 2,500 - 3,000/kg, after reaching a short-term peak of VND 94,000/kg at the beginning of the week.
World coffee prices plummeted after a series of hot increases
On the London Stock Exchange, Robusta coffee prices fell sharply in the trading session last night (July 17, Vietnam time). The September 2025 contract term decreased by 115 USD, to 3,312 USD/ton. Longer terms such as November 2025 and January 2026 also simultaneously lost more than 100 USD, respectively at 3,288 USD/ton and 3,254 USD/ton. In the last two sessions alone, Robusta prices have lost nearly 200 USD/ton.
On the other hand, Arabica prices on the New York exchange also decreased again after many consecutive increases. The September 2025 delivery period decreased by 1.25 cents, to 307.20 cents/pound. The terms for December 2025 and March 2026 fell more strongly, losing 2.20 and 2.70 cents/pound respectively, bringing the price to around 298 - 290 cents/pound.
The sharp decline in global coffee prices mainly came from strong profit-taking on both exchanges. After many consecutive increases due to concerns about a shortage of supply, the market has shown signs of "overbuying" in the short term. Along with that, reports show that the coffee harvest progress in Brazil and Vietnam is gradually improving, causing market sentiment to stagnate.
