According to the Vietnam Coffee and Cocoa Association (VICOFA), the coffee harvest is nearly 2 months late. The severe impact of climate change, heavy rains and cold weather has caused the coffee berries to ripen slowly. Meanwhile, farmers mainly harvest red-ripe coffee to achieve high yields, so the harvesting process is delayed.
Currently, the Central Highlands region has only harvested about 50% of the output, compared to this time every year, the harvesting process is almost complete. However, through initial surveys, the total amount of coffee harvested in Vietnam this year has not decreased much thanks to the regions taking the initiative to irrigate, contributing to increased productivity.
On the output side, besides traditional markets such as Europe, the US, and Japan, new markets such as China and ASEAN countries are also coffee export targets of the domestic market.
