World coffee prices
In the world market, Robusta prices in London continue to increase. The September 2025 contract term increased from 4,201 USD/ton (August 18) to 5,057 USD/ton on August 28, an increase of 856 USD. Long terms also increased from 177 - 188 USD/ton in today's trading session, equivalent to 4% - 4.1%.
After many sessions of price reduction, Arabica on the New York exchange "turned around" to increase again. The September 2025 contract was traded at 393.80 cents/lb, up 9.75 cents. Other terms also reversed and increased by 8.3 - 13 cents/lb, equivalent to 2.41% - 3.49%.
According to Reuters, Robusta coffee futures increased to a 3-month high and Arabica returned to near a 3.5-month high, supported by reduced inventories as American roasters rushed to buy after the US government imposed a 50% import tax on coffee from Brazil.
Traders said the market was supported by the slow but steady decline in inventory on the stock exchange.
As of August 26, Robusta coffee inventories reached 66,110 tons, the lowest level in a month and down from 70,120 tons at the end of July. The amount of Arabica coffee in stock tracked by ICE also fell to a 1.25-year low of 716,578 bags.
The decrease in Brazil's exports is also supporting prices. On August 6, the Brazilian Ministry of Commerce said that unroasted coffee exports in July fell 20.4% year-on-year to 161,000 tons. Along with that, Arabica exports decreased by 21%, while Robusta decreased sharply by 49%. In total, coffee exports in July decreased by 28% to 2.7 million bags, and the cumulative 7 months of the year decreased by 21% to 22.2 million bags.
