Domestic coffee prices continue to fall sharply
Today, June 8, the domestic coffee market fell sharply for the second consecutive day, marking the strongest adjustment week in a month. According to the survey, coffee prices in the Central Highlands range from 113,500 - 114,000 VND/kg, down 1,500 - 1,800 VND/kg compared to June 7.
Specifically:
Dak Lak and Dak Nong are both at 114,000 VND/kg, down 1,700 VND.
Gia Lai is lower at VND 113,800/kg, down VND 1,800.
Lam Dong recorded the lowest price of VND 113,500/kg, down VND 1,500.
Looking back at a week, domestic coffee prices have lost a total of VND4,500 - 5,000/kg, from the peak of VND118,000 - VND118,500/kg on June 5.
Compared to the beginning of 2025 (1.1), when the price was at an average of 130,000 VND/kg, domestic coffee has decreased by about 16,000 - 17,000 VND/kg. However, if compared to the same period last year (June 8, 2024), the price is still about 7,500 - 8,000 VND/kg higher, when coffee at that time fluctuated around 106,000 VND/kg.
World coffee prices sink into red
The world coffee market has just undergone a strong adjustment session after a rapid increase on June 6. At the end of the session on June 7 (US time), both London and New York exchanges turned to decrease sharply.
On the London Stock Exchange:
Robusta price for delivery in July 2025 decreased by 153 USD/ton, to 4,440 USD/ton.
The September 2025 term decreased by 106 USD/ton, down to 4,339 USD/ton.
On the New York Stock Exchange:
Arabica price for delivery in July 2025 decreased by 1.70 cents/lb, to 358.05 cents/lb.
The September 2025 term decreased by 1.75 cents/lb to 355.45 cents/lb.
Compared to the beginning of the week (the session on June 3), Robusta prices have lost about 153 USD/ton, while Arabica has decreased by nearly 2 cents/lb.
Since the beginning of 2025, when Robusta was at 4,950 USD/ton, the current level is about 510 USD/ton lower. Arabica also decreased from the peak of 380.00 cents/lb, equivalent to a loss of nearly 22 cents/lb. However, compared to the same period last year (June 8, 2024), both types of coffee are still significantly higher Robusta at that time was around 4,150 USD/ton, Arabica around 320.00 cents/lb.
Coffee market assessment
The coffee market is in a series of adjustments after many hot increases in late May and early June. The profit-taking pressure of international speculators and the sale move in the domestic market have caused prices to fall sharply last week.
However, the medium-term trend is still positively assessed thanks to scarce supply and low inventories in Vietnam. The market is waiting for new developments from Brazil - which is about to enter the peak harvest season, which could create more big fluctuations in the coming time.
Coffee growers are advised to monitor the market closely, avoid selling massively when prices are adjusting, and at the same time monitor additional signals from the USD exchange rate and international shipping prices.
