This morning (6. 8), nearly 103,000 candidates in Hanoi completed the second day of the exam in the 10th grade entrance exam for the 2024-2025 school year. They took a Math exam for 120 minutes.
This is the first year that the 10th grade entrance exam has been compiled according to the new general education program.
In Hanoi, candidates take a Math exam in the form of a complete essay. The exam consists of 5 questions, centered on knowledge flows including: Data statistics and probability; Forms and related problems; Solving problems by forming equations, equation systems and applying Viete dynamics; Space and round-trip mechanics; practical problems related to real estate.

Mai Le Bao Phuong - a student at Le Quy Don Secondary School, taking the exam at My Dinh 1 Secondary School - said that this year's Math exam is close to what he had studied at school, but he did not complete the exam.

Also assessing that the exam is suitable for the task and is within the scope of careful review, Hoang Truc Nhat Minh - a student at Yen Hoa Secondary School - said that he can achieve above 9 points.
"To get a score of 10, students need to have enough knowledge to do the final question. This question is quite difficult to differentiate the candidates" - she said.

Mr. Do Van Bao - Math teacher, Vinschool Inter-level School - assessed that the 10th grade entrance exam in Hanoi in Math this year did not surprise candidates. The exam questions have been changed to suit the new program, but were previously announced in the sample questions.
According to Mr. Bao, the exam meets the spirit of the 2018 general education program. The Math exam has included more than 50% of the materials from practical problems, thereby requiring candidates to apply knowledge and Mathematical skills such as making equations, solving equations and then making conclusions.
"In particular, in the last question, the test starts with a very practical and necessary problem for transportation businesses, requiring students to think and model into problems, solve problems and make conclusions" - Mr. Bao said. And Mr. Bao said that in terms of structure, it is clear that the exam has changed compared to the previous year when adding a topic on Data Statistics and Probability, a group of related knowledge became a major topic.
Regarding the scope of knowledge and difficulty, Ms. Nguyen Thi Oanh - Mathematics major of the junior high school - high school Phenikaa (Hanoi) - said that the exam still includes 5 big problems, each exam consists of many small ideas arranged in order from easy to difficult with very familiar exam forms.
"Although the difficulty of the exam is slightly reduced compared to the illustrative exam, there is still good differentiation. The average score of candidates can fall to about 7 points" - Ms. Oanh commented.

The end of the Math exam on the morning of June 8 is also the time for candidates to complete the 10th grade entrance exam in Hanoi this year. For students taking the entrance exam to a specialized school, they will do an additional exam tomorrow.
According to statistics from the Hanoi Department of Education and Training (DET), this year, the whole city has 201 exam locations with 4,411 non-professional exam rooms and 201 reserve exam rooms; there are no officials who consider the exam violating regulations.
The number of candidates registered for the exam is 102,423 out of a total of 102,860, reaching a rate of 99.57%. The number of candidates absent from the Foreign Language exam is 437 students. No candidates violated the exam regulations. The number of candidates who need support to do the test is 12 candidates due to health problems and medical support.
Assessing the situation at the exam locations, the Hanoi Department of Education and Training said that as of 10:00 a.m. on June 8, the exam locations in the city were taking place normally, safely, seriously, and in accordance with exam regulations.
