World coffee prices
On the London Stock Exchange, the September 2025 term contract closed at 4,646 USD/ton (+178 USD), the November 2025 term reached 4,430 USD/ton (+121 USD). Long terms all increased from 114 - 121 USD/ton.
On the New York exchange, Arabica increased sharply: the December 2025 futures contract reached 384.85 US cents/lb (+11.20), the March 2026 futures increased to 372.15 US cents/lb (+10.85). Other terms also rose above 10 US cents/lb.
World coffee prices increased sharply due to concerns about drought in Brazil, especially in Minas Gerais - the largest area of arabica cultivation, there was no rain in the week ending September 6, risking the flowering stage of the plant. Previously, Conab lowered the forecast of Brazil's arabica output in 2025 to 35.2 million bags, down 4.9% compared to the May forecast, while slightly cutting the total coffee output of this country to 55.2 million bags.
The market was also supported by ICO data showing that global coffee exports in July fell 1.6% year-on-year to 11.6 million bags; accumulated 10 months of decline of 0.3%. In addition, ICE- track coffee inventories remained low, with arabica at around 695,884 bags near a 1.25-year low, while robusta around 6,644 batches near a 1.5-month bottom.
In addition, the US imposing a 50% tax on Brazilian coffee has caused many US importers to cancel new contracts, tightening coffee supply in this market, contributing to supporting prices, according to Barchart.com.
