Market outlook
Coffee prices maintained their upward momentum, with Robusta coffee reaching its highest level in about 1.5 weeks. The main driving force came from signs of supply decline in Brazil. According to Cecafe, Brazil's green coffee exports in March decreased by 10% year-on-year, to 2.65 million bags. Previously, the Brazilian Ministry of Trade also said that coffee exports in March decreased sharply by 31%, to 151,000 tons.
Weather factors continue to support prices as rainfall in Brazil is lower than average. Previously, Arabica prices had fallen to a 4-week low due to expectations of a record crop in Brazil. In the opposite direction, increased Arabica inventories are putting pressure on prices, as inventory tracked by ICE reached a 6.5-month high of 585,621 bags.
Coffee exports increased sharply from Vietnam - the world's largest Robusta producer, which is also a factor putting downward pressure on prices. The Statistics Office said that exports in the first quarter of 2026 increased by 14%, reaching 585,000 tons; for the whole year 2025 increased by 17.5%, reaching 1.58 million tons. Production in the 2025/26 crop year is expected to increase by 6%, to 1.76 million tons (about 29.4 million bags).
Previously in February, coffee prices fell sharply, with Arabica falling to a 17-month low on February 24 due to abundant supply prospects.
