Domestic pepper prices
Today (September 4), domestic pepper prices continued to stand still for two consecutive days after the holidays, trading in the range of 135,000 - 137,000 VND/kg.
At the end of the recent trading session, Gia Lai, Ho Chi Minh City and Dong Nai all anchored at the threshold of 135,000 VND/kg.
In the same direction, Dak Lak announced a price of 136,500 VND/kg.
In Lam Dong, pepper prices are currently at the highest level of 137,000 VND/kg.
World pepper price
In the world market, pepper prices remain unchanged in all countries. Indonesia's black and white peppers are no exception, trading in the range of 6,893 - 9,438 USD/ton (equivalent to 181,011 VND/kg - 247,842 VND/kg).
In addition, the price of Brazilian black pepper sold to the market is 5,800 USD/ton (about 152,308 VND/kg). Black and white Malaysian peppers still maintain the same price range, trading at high prices, respectively 12,200 USD/ton and 9,300 USD/ton.
Notably, in Vietnam's pepper export market, black pepper prices of 500 g/l and 550 g/l are traded at 5,990 - 6,050 USD/ton. ASTA white pepper is offered for sale at 8,400 USD/ton (equivalent to 220,584 VND/kg).
Assessments and forecasts
Citing data from the Statistics Office, in August 2026, Vietnam's pepper exports reached 23,000 tons, worth 148 million USD and the average export price was 6,505 USD/ton.
Compared to the previous month, export volume decreased by 0.7%, turnover decreased by 1.2% and average export price decreased by 0.6%. However, compared to the same period in 2025, pepper exports still increased by 5.8% in volume and 5.3% in value, while average export prices decreased by 0.5%.
Accumulated in the first 8 months of 2026, Vietnam exported 192 thousand tons of pepper, earning 1.25 billion USD, an increase of 15.3% in volume and 10.4% in value compared to the same period in 2025. The average export price of pepper in 8 months reached 6,511 USD/ton, down 4.3% compared to the same period last year.
According to forecasts from the Vietnam Pepper and Spice Plant Association (VPSA), world pepper production in 2026 will be lower than the forecast scenarios given at the beginning of the year.
