Assessment and forecast
extending the series of adjustments, domestic pepper prices continue to have a downward trend. This reflects the market sentiment of waiting for clearer signals from domestic and foreign consumption demand, as well as policy moves from major export markets.
According to data from the Customs Department, in April, Vietnam's pepper exports reached 26,428 tons, worth 184.1 million USD, a sharp increase of 31.7% in volume and 31.1% in value compared to the previous month, while compared to the same period last year, they increased by 0.7% in volume and 58.3% in value.
In the first 4 months of the year, our country's pepper exports reached 73,647 tons, worth 508.36 million USD, down 11.3% in volume but still increased sharply by 44.4% in value compared to the same period in 2024.
Despite the short-term adjustment, experts believe that in the medium and long term, pepper prices are still likely to remain high thanks to stable demand from major markets such as the US, EU and the Middle East, at a time when supply has not had a breakthrough.
