Domestic pepper prices: flat trend
As of 11:30 today (8.3), domestic pepper prices remained unchanged, except for Dak Lak province, with an average decrease of VND100/kg. Currently, the purchase price ranges from 159,000 - 162,000 VND/kg. The average pepper purchase price nationwide is at 160,000 VND/kg.
Pepper purchasing prices in the three provinces of Ba Ria - Vung Tau, Binh Phuoc, Gia Lai remained unchanged, listed at 159,000 VND/kg.
Dak Lak province turned around and decreased slightly by VND100/kg after maintaining its leading position among provinces and cities in purchasing the highest pepper in the country, currently anchored at VND161,000/kg.
Meanwhile, Dak Nong province remained unchanged compared to the previous trading session, selling to the market at 162,000 VND/kg.

World pepper prices: Slightly decreased in the afternoon
According to the International Pepper Community, on the exchanges, the price of black and white pepper in the Indonesian market reversed and decreased slightly. Black pepper prices fell 0.12%, listed at 7,376 USD/ton (equivalent to 189,490 VND/kg). Similarly, the price of white pepper also decreased by 0.13%, currently listed at 10,242 USD/ton (equivalent to 263,117 VND/kg).
For the Brazilian market, the price of ASTA 570 black pepper was traded at 6,850 USD/ton, unchanged from the closing price of the last session.
In the Malaysian market, ASTA black and white pepper prices unexpectedly increased after a long period of stagnation, increasing by 1.02% and 0.81%, respectively, anchored at 9,800 USD/ton and 12,300 USD/ton.
Notably, in Vietnam, black pepper prices for export remained unchanged after a period of mixed increases and decreases. The 500 g/l type is traded at 7,000 USD/ton (equivalent to 179,830 VND/kg); the 550 g/l type is currently at 7,200 USD/ton (equivalent to 184,968 VND/kg). Similarly, the price of white pepper for export is at 10,000 USD/ton (equivalent to 256,900 VND/kg).

In the Indian market, pepper prices remain unchanged in most pepper cultivars. Garbled pepper costs 67,200 rupees/kg, (equivalent to 204,584 VND/kg), Ungarbled is listed at 65.200 rupees/kg, while gram/liter has the lowest price of 64,200 rupees/kg (exchanged at 198.495 VND/kg).

Assessment and forecast
According to the Ministry of Agriculture and Environment, pepper is grown in 70 countries with a total area of about 670,000 hectares, the global pepper output reaches 558,000 tons. The area is distributed mainly in the following countries: Brazil, India, Indonesia, Sri Lanka, Vietnam, Cambodia, China, Malaysia. Of which, Vietnam accounts for about one-third of total global output and more than half of total export turnover.
According to the Vietnam Pepper and Spices Association (VPSA), although Vietnam's pepper export output in the first 2 months of 2025 decreased by nearly 12%, export turnover increased by more than 48% compared to the same period in 2024 thanks to high prices.
By the end of February 2025, Vietnam has exported more than 27,400 tons of pepper of all kinds, of which black pepper reached more than 22,300 tons and white pepper reached more than 5,000 tons.
Total export turnover reached 184.9 million USD. The average export price of black pepper reached 6,648 USD/ton and white pepper reached 8,501 USD/ton. The US is still the largest export market for Vietnamese pepper, reaching 5,890 tons in the first two months of this year, but output decreased by more than 32% over the same period.
