Domestic pepper prices: Unexpectedly stable after a strong increase last week
As of 12:30 today (7.3), domestic pepper prices have suddenly remained unchanged, except for Dak Nong province, with an average increase of 100 VND/kg. Currently, the purchase price ranges from 159,000 - 162,000 VND/kg. The average pepper purchase price nationwide is at 160,100 VND/kg.
Pepper purchasing prices in the three provinces of Ba Ria - Vung Tau, Binh Phuoc, Gia Lai are all unchanged, currently listed at 159,000 VND/kg.
Notably, Dak Nong province increased slightly by VND 500/kg, surpassing Dak Lak province to maintain the highest pepper purchasing position in the country, selling to the market at VND 162,000/kg. Meanwhile, pepper purchasing prices in Dak Lak province remained unchanged compared to the previous trading session, anchored around VND161,500/kg.

World pepper prices: Continue to increase
According to the International Pepper Community, on the exchanges, black and white pepper prices in the Indonesian market continued to increase slightly. Black pepper prices increased by 0.34%, listed at 7,385 USD/ton (equivalent to 189,647 VND/kg). Similarly, the price of white pepper also increased by 0.34%, currently listed at 10,255 USD/ton (equivalent to 263,349 VND/kg).
For the Brazilian market, the price of ASTA 570 black pepper was traded at 6,850 USD/ton, unchanged from the closing price of the last session.
In the Malaysian market, ASTA black and white pepper prices unexpectedly increased after a long period of stagnation, increasing by 1.02% and 0.81%, respectively, anchored at 9,800 USD/ton and 12,300 USD/ton.
Notably, in Vietnam, black pepper prices for export remained unchanged after a period of mixed increases and decreases. The 500 g/l type is traded at 7,000 USD/ton (equivalent to 179,760 VND/kg); the 550 g/l type is currently at 7,200 USD/ton (equivalent to 184,896 VND/kg). Similarly, the price of white pepper for export is at 10,000 USD/ton (equivalent to 256,800 VND/kg).

In the Indian market, pepper prices remain unchanged in most pepper cultivars. Garbled pepper costs 67,200 rupees/kg, (equivalent to 204,241 VND/kg), Ungarbled is listed at 65.200 rupees/kg, while gram/liter has the lowest price of 64,200 rupees/kg (exchanged at 198,163 VND/kg).

Assessment and forecast
According to the Vietnam Pepper and Spices Association (VPSA), by the end of February 2025, Vietnam had exported 27,416 tons of pepper of all kinds, of which black pepper reached 22,360 tons and white pepper reached 5,056 tons.
Total export turnover reached 184.9 million USD, white pepper reached 37.0 million USD. Compared to the same period in 2024, the export volume decreased by 11.9%, however, the export turnover increased by 48.1%. The average export price of black pepper reached 6,648 USD/ton and white pepper reached 8,501 USD/ton.
With its leading position in the world, Vietnam is not only a country exporting raw materials but is also shifting to developing deep-processed products, increasing export value. However, this item also faces many challenges, from climate change, pests, increasingly strict quality requirements from the international market, and high transportation costs.
